Customer Success Stories
We have helped companies of all sized increase the impact of their employee training programs. Here are just a few examples.
Streamlining Compliance to Save Time and Money
The Challenge
While working with a large aerospace company, we found that their current safety compliance training had been put in place without a lot of planning. As they rapidly expanded, they had implemented several off-the-shelf courses on subjects like fall protection, hearing protection, and general workplace safety. Many employees found themselves taking well over a dozen courses and it was wasting a lot of employee time.
The Solution
While reviewing the content, we found that not only was the content very knowledge heavy, it also contained a lot of duplication. Since the courses were created individually, there were many individual sections of the courses that largely repeated the same information.
We worked with the company’s safety experts to redesign a holistic outline of content that met all the requirements of the company, but in a much more streamlined way. After designing the outline of the new courses, we dove into creating each new course custom to the needs of the business. These custom courses allowed the information to be tailored to exactly what their employees needed, and let us remove everything else.
The Results
By recreating the courses, we were able to combine 29 separate elearnings into just 9 courses. The vast majority of the company now only have to take 1 or 2 courses, instead of the previous 5 or 6. Across the company, this saved over 6,000 hours in training every single year.
The entire project took just 6 months to complete.
Building Culture to Increase Employee Engagement
The Challenge
Mission Cloud is an AWS Premier Consulting Partner who are reinventing the world through premium cloud services. One way they ensure a top level of service for their customers is through relentless dedication to a set of company values. When they shifted to be a fully remote company, they needed a scalable way to instill this culture in new hires without relying on in-person events.
The Solution
At the time the partnership started, the company had just completed an all company off-site, during which they had captured numerous interviews with key leaders and footage of employees working together. We used this footage to create a series of videos that broke down some of the key elements of Mission Cloud’s culture in a way that was highly engaging and personable.
We then scripted and created a series of animated videos to describe both the company’s values and how those values manifested themselves during day-to-day work. Together, these videos were designed to help the values come to life and show new employees how they could make them real every day.
These videos were then put together into an online course where participants were able to read, watch a video, and then answer questions to make sure they fully understood the lesson of the video. This online course was then assigned to every new hire as part of their onboarding process so they could consume it on their own time.
The Results
Culture is always an incredibly difficult thing to measure inside an organization. It is especially difficult to measure the impact of a single course on that culture when an organization already has so many culture initiatives in place. However, just a few weeks after we launched the course, we got a clear signal that the course was having the desired effect.
A recent hire of the company went out of their way to post on LinkedIn about their experience with the company. Referencing a particular moment of the animated video we created, the employee stated that they felt so welcomed by their new company that they started crying.
It is rare for an elearning to have that kind of impact on an employee.
Using Online Training to Increase Impact
The Challenge
LifeLabs Learning is the go-to leadership skills accelerator for 2,000+ innovative companies (like Venmo, Andreessen Horowitz, BlackRock, Glossier, Instacart, Lyft, Yale, and Slack). They train managers, execs, and teams in science-backed programs for feedback, coaching, productivity, and so much more. The core of their training has always been live, facilitated sessions, but with more and more customers looking for on-demand content, they were looking for a way to augment their traditional courses in a way that would improve engagement for the learner and the overall impact of the courses.
The Solution
LifeLabs Learning already had outstanding content; the question was how to engage with participants beyond the live sessions in a way that would feel seamless and be additive to the experience. We decided on creating a series of short, animated videos that would be part of pre-work for each live session, using a new animation style just for their brand.
We reviewed all of their existing content and wrote scripts designed to introduce participants to all of the ideas of each live session. This would allow the facilitator to speed up the normal knowledge acquisition process and spend the majority of their time on practice and answering questions. With the scripts approved, we built a storyboard to zero in on the exact style that they wanted -- and finally delivered the animated videos.
The Results
After a test run, the results were clear: Not only did participants enjoy the videos, but facilitators did as well. Experienced LifeLabs facilitators reported that participants who completed the online modules were far more engaged and prepared for the live session, ensuring everyone got the most out of the valuable live time they had together.
